PT141 is the first in a new class of drugs being developed by Palatin
Technologies to treat sexual dysfunction in both men and women. PT141, an
odorless, colorless compound is administered through a nasal spray in a small,
white plastic container that is just as convenient as oral treatments and is not
as invasive as some treatments for erectile dysfunction.
PT141 has been called the “libido in an antomiser”, “sex in a spray” or the “new
club drug of the millennium.” Effects of a dose of the spray can be felt in
15-30 minutes making it much faster acting than the one hour plus lead time for
other male enhancement drugs. Upon administering the spray, both men and women
have reported “genital warmth”, tingling and throbbing sensations and both the
urge and desire to have sex. The major benefit being that it works for both men
and women and it is non-addictive, easy to use and has no serious side effects.
PT141 - As
Nasal spray
PT141 is a copy of the hormone that stimulates receptors in the brain that
affect sexual arousal. It goes straight to work on the central nervous system
rather than the vascular system. So instead of just increasing blood flow to the
genital area, PT141 triggers chemicals in the brain that increase blood flow to
the genitals which improves sexual function, but it has the added benefit of
increasing sexual desire. It’s the increase of sexual desire and the fact that
PT141 works for both men and women that makes it such a sexual wonder drug
unlike any currently available on the market.
After receiving FDA approval (planned for 2007), Palatin Technologies plans to
market PT141 as a nasal spray to men with erectile dysfunction. Palatin also
hopes to get the nasal spray approved for
female
sexual dysfunction as well. So, it may be possible in just over a year to
have desire on demand in the form of nasal spray.
